How to Comply With Google’s Mobile Pop Up Rules [Video]

Ever since Google announced that they would be penalizing websites using who use intrusive mobile pop ups at the end of 2016, one of the top questions we’ve gotten is how to easily comply with their rules.

Based on what we have seen in the last 18 months, we put together a quick video to explain what the rules are, what Google is trying to do, and how to comply. Take a watch!

  1. Google is trying to create the best possible experience for your mobile visitors by eliminating interstitial pop ups that get between someone clicking on a mobile search result and reaching your website.
  2. The best choice for mobile displays is to use a flyout that only partially blocks the screen but still actively engages your visitors.
  3. If you still prefer pop ups, use only exit intent or trigger your pop ups on the second page view of a site visit.
